Screen Time and/or HealthKit · Remote · Scoped engagement
Kairos is an iOS app that swoops in when phone use turns compulsive and guides you out of the digital loop, with a personal challenge at the kairotic moment.
Where we are: We've wireframed every screen, built the brand, mapped the technical architecture, and lined up 100 beta users. Now we're building the engineering team to bring it to life, starting with a TestFlight beta.
Why we need you: We've done the groundwork and know where the hard parts are. Screen Time detection runs in a restrictive extension whose callbacks aren't always reliable, and HealthKit sends data on the system's schedule, not ours. We're looking for someone who has worked through these limits in production and enjoys problem-solving where the documentation runs out. Experience in both is ideal; deep experience in either is welcome.

You'll work with me on scope and product decisions, and with our founding full stack engineer (also hiring) on integration. You'll build the extensions and native background logic in Swift, including the countdown Live Activity on the lock screen, and integrate them into our iOS app. You'll also work out with the full stack engineer how the app and its extensions share data, and help us through Apple's Family Controls approval. At the end, we'll ask for clear documentation and a handoff walkthrough. Scope and rate are agreed upfront.
